Poetry and President Kennedy

President John F. Kennedy’s last major public address was at Amherst College Oct 26, 1963. He was at the dedication of the Robert Frost Library.

Kennedy said:

“When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitation. When power narrows the areas of man’s concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses...”

Thank for joining me on National Poetry Month.
