More "whys?"

I’m wondering “why” on a couple of things I’ve been observing these days.

Why are so many of our young men sporting beards or half-growth beards. Look at some of our sports teams. Look at the magazine models for clothes and the like and so many of them sport a three or four-day growth of facial hair. Is this the new look? Are beards back into youthful fashion? As I remember reading beards were fashionable in the early 1800’s, but then came the fashionable coif’s of moustaches and side-burns.

Part of me thinks it might be a middle eastern influence. Part of me thinks it might be the advertising guru’s thinking that beard stubble is masculine and appealing to the public. The other part of me thinks it may be a cover-up for a personal youthful fear that to be different from the rest of the world is wrong at this time; perhaps a desire to blend in; a willingness to give away one’s physical persona.  Who knows.

The other thing that bothers me is texting instead of conversation. WE ARE LOOSING THE ART OF TALKING TO ONE ANOTHER. Talking to one another engages the heart and understanding often results. Texting engenders a dispassion that is harmful to agreement and consensus and conflict often results.

More Stuff of Thought

Knowing
© 2015 Rolland G. Smith

Beware the black of fear and seizures night
When earthly reason cannot see light’s bright.
For now’s the time to bide your mind and soul
As reason swallows all illusions whole.
Now move your thoughts to where it’s empty space
To thus acknowledge true the wholesome grace
Of joy and wisdom coming from the Source
Where sadness and old pain hold no recourse.
Love holds us in the brace of lasting peace
That comes to all as if it’s a release
To see the life that you have chosen now
As right and just and what you did avow.
Let the poets of this time tell us truth
In teaching to the learned and the youth.

Monday Thoughts

I wish you a week of positive thoughts and wishes that come true. What is here is now and it is right and beautiful. I continually thank so many who have send me cards and prayers as I process the passing of my Annie.

She is finally complete and comfortable and the messages I get from her through feathers and thoughts confirm that there is another place of dancing peaceful wonder.

Like many of you, I did enjoy Pope Francis’ visit and the excellent coverage the television and radio media did to share the events with all who choose to watch and listen. For those of you are not media trained, the technology to see and witness was used expertly and the commentary of the anchors was excellent.

I am proud of my media and the collective medium, at least, for this event. Please try to keep it up.
