Huey

It's Veterans Day and I've just finished reading a Kindle release of a book published thirty years ago. It's entitled, "Huey." It is more than a novel of a combat helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. It is a true story, told through fiction by David and Jay Groen. I recommend it.

Huey is a magnificent story with a truth narrative. David and Jay Groen vividly capture the time of their serving in Vietnam. David flying helicopters in and out of combat and Jay in intelligence. The names and places and feelings lift off the fictional pages into the real mind and stir the dusty memory of that war especially for those who’ve been there.

Huey is a gem. It is a more than a novel. It is a personal narrative of helicopter combat experience and the deep spiritual questions all those in war ask themselves and expect no profound answer.
