There are many things that I don’t understand and probably
never will.
There are some everyday things that I don’t understand and
can offer an explanation by citing either stupidity, gross ignorance or an
unwillingness to consider facts.
With the recent big snow storm in the Northeast a television
reporter asks a guy whose car is stuck in the snow. “Why did you decide to
drive today?” The answer: “I didn’t think it would be that bad.”
“DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD BE THAT BAD!” All one had to do is to
believe the expert meteorologists and The National Weather Service who predicted exactly what
happened.
Then there is the decision by the City of New York not to
close schools yesterday even though only 44% of students showed up.
Mayor De Blazio said, “If you can guarantee me one foot of
snow, then we will close the schools.”
GUARANTEE! MR. MAYOR? Since when are any guarantees
associated with a weather forecast?
The new mayor and his commissioners tried to assuage the
anger of many parents by blaming it on a changing storm, but I don’t think it
worked.
