President John F. Kennedy’s last major public address was at Amherst College Oct 26, 1963. He was
at the dedication of the Robert Frost Library.
Kennedy said:
“When
power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitation. When
power narrows the areas of man’s concern, poetry reminds him of the richness
and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses...”
