I must interrupt the poetry month posts to note some
disturbing statistics.
According to the Washington Post as reported in The Week
magazine between 1989 and 2010 the average cost of college rose by 307 percent,
health-care costs by 223 percent and housing by 85 percent.
I suspect the college costs high percentage is partially a
result of greed conscious administrations.
The health-care costs are unfairly up because of doctor and
hospital greed, i.e. a single Florida ophthalmologist was reimbursed in 2012 for
21 million dollars in services.
Good grief did he think no one would notice?
AND THE GOVERNMENT PAID IT.
AND THE GOVERNMENT PAID IT.
The federal government is largely responsible for the abuse
of the Medicare system. The government is peppered with bureaucratic bungling,
inept bureaucrats, and a contentious congress that prefers to squabble rather
than fix these egregious issues with appropriate oversight.
Hopefully I can get back to poetry tomorrow. Hopefully!
