Here we go again!
Senator Ted Cruz, the tea party republican from Texas lost
his health-care battle and now he is holding hostage again.
The other day he blocked confirmation of Tom Wheeler as
chairman of the FCC. Cruz wants assurance from Wheeler that the agency would
not seek disclosures of who is paying for political TV ads.
What Cruz is saying is that he doesn’t want the American
people to know who pays for the prejudicial political advertisements that the
tea party and others would get from special interest groups and organizations.
Cruz wants it kept secret.
Cruz is using his position and the Senate rules to hide
his skullduggery in the political arena.
It’s no wonder that the Houston Chronicle has un-endorsed Cruz saying he’s been
part of the problem in specific situations.
It seems to me that the Senate ought to be looking into
expelling this upstart parvenu. American politics does not need more secrets or
obstructionists; it needs openness, honesty, full disclosure and clarity in
government.
By the way, if you haven’t read the Gail Collins op-ed
column in The New York Times about a Ted Cruz on Every Corner; I recommend it. Don’t
forget to read the comments at the bottom of the column.
