Another “why” in my periodic questions about life.
We all know that in Syria the conflict creates nothing but
misery.
If the Assad regime truly cared about its people then the
cruelty of conflict would have ended a long time ago or not have esculated to
the civilian population. If the rebel factions truly cared about the people
then they too would have found a different way to demand or accelerate their
desire for freedom and the need for change. It is unfortunate, but the human
mind still favors killing as a way to eliminate an opposition.
The people are always the losers. The people, the civilians,
the non-combatants are the ones who are either killed or forced to leave their
homes and flee to camps in dirty, desolate or foreign places.
This scenario is not endemic to Syria. It has happened in
every civil conflict since the beginning of wars.
There must be a solution somewhere that we mortals can
embrace. I don’t know where to find it accept in the grace of spirit. I don’t
know where to find it accept in the acknowledgement and the absolute acceptance
that all is as it should be. That understanding is hard and difficult when
children suffer and families are torn apart.
