Dear Mr.
Eastwood,
I loved
your acting in so many pictures throughout the years, but your performance at
the Republican National Convention was a little suspect.
Talking
to an empty chair, while cute in concept, was not appropriate or polished. It
was nothing other than a personal commentary on your political beliefs
questioning a non-entity empty chair as the President of the United States. I
didn't hear you say much of or for Mr. Romney. I did hear a lot of things
against the policies of Mr. Obama.
I admit
some people loved your off the cuff seemingly disjointed ad lib diatribe and
some people didn't. Most didn’t understand it.
I can
forgo all the innuendo, the illusions of accuracy, the disrespect to the office
of the President and the celebrity use of your image as political persuasion,
but what really bothers me is that your publicity agent, the next day, says
during your upcoming picture promotional tour you will not talk about anything,
but the picture.
You had
the courage to put your beliefs out to the public in support of a candidate,
now you should be willing to defend them to the public in any legitimate press
questions that may come your way.
In
politics you cannot hide behind celebrity, infirmity or addlepated thought.
