Yesterday I had March rants.
Today a March rave.
Senators Claire McCaskill, a Democrat from Missouri and Bill
Nelson a Democrat from Florida are planning to introduce legislation that would
require members of Congress to take a pay cut if any federal worker is
furloughed because of sequestration.
Senator McCaskill put it this way on her website.
“The federal workforce is looking at furloughs that would
result in a sizeable pay cut and there’s absolutely no reason members of
Congress should exempt themselves. We can and should reach a balanced
compromise to replace these damaging across-the-board cuts, but until we do,
this is an obvious step to hold Congress accountable for the job we need to get
done.”
Senator Nelson said, “No one should get paid for inaction
and Congress clearly hasn’t done the job to avert the sequester.
Did you notice there are no Republican co-sponsors of the
bill?
